Don Ramon Martin Hernandez-Cañizares has been with cattle & horses since he was a child and later inherited the Retinto cattle and bulls from his father and started his own Pure Spanish horse breeding stud in 1993. |
Nowadays the Stud continues to breed horses and Retinto Cattle. Their horses are well known as having magnificent functionality with exceptional temperaments, movements with elevation, cadence, impulsion and wonderful character for people to be able to practice and enjoy all kind of equestrian disciplines. |
The stud has 30 brood- mares with great homogeneity, all from the same blood origins descending from Albero II. They have been selected with a strict breeding judgement in order to maintain the characteristics of the breed, their movements and temperaments. Last year Dehesa de Cabeza Rubia initiated a new criterion in breeding mares to objectively analyse their aptitudes for work and functionality. In order to achieve that they decided to ride and train the mares under saddle before using them in breeding. The mares as well as the fillies live in freedom all the year round. |
