Yamao making friends...

Welcome!

After learning to ride at the age of seven, my dream to own a pony finally came true on my eleventh birthday, when my family moved and we had enough land. My first pony Minstrel, a piebald cob was the first of many wonderful equine characters, including a pure Arab who liked to jump and a beautiful thoroughbred mare who liked to dance. Finally culminating with my meeting on Mallorca with a fifteen year old silver-grey ex bull-fighting stallion called Gavilan who came back to England with me! Where, feisty, fearless and single-minded, he taught me and many other people, the sensitivity and lightness of a Spanish Andalusian and introduced me to the magic of his personality.

I have enjoyed Gymkhanas, Pony Club, Showing, Hunting, Jumping, Eventing, Dressage and Classical Equitation. I have run my own livery yard and small stud, thoroughly enjoying teaching my own Classical Riding & Horse behaviour programme to working students from all over the world. I have taught all ages of pupils from six to over sixty, from total beginner to advanced with the emphasis always on lightness and communication between horse and rider.

My inspiration and tuition continues to come from many sources but Joao Trigueiros, Dominique Barbier, Mario Luraschi and Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling have been very important influences on my development.
My horses have and always will be my best teachers!!

Clare Cottage set in the heart of the Fens is a quirky and characterful setting with the old cottage at the heart surrounded by a stable yard and grooming area, tack room, enclosed sand manege and verdant paddocks.
